Glossary

Auto-Fit A text element setting that automatically scales the font size to fit the available space. Useful for variable-length content. See Text & Typography.

Barcode A one-dimensional optical label that encodes data as parallel bars. Zandovi supports Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, and other formats. See Barcodes.

Batch A render job that processes multiple rows of data at once, producing one image per row. Typically fed by a CSV file. See Batch Generation from CSV.

Canvas The rectangular design surface representing the final output dimensions. Everything you place on the canvas is included in the rendered image.

Corner Radius A property of rectangles, curved rectangles, and images that rounds the corners. A large value produces a pill or circle shape.

CSV (Comma-Separated Values) A plain-text file format used to supply variable data for batch generation. Each row is one render job; columns are variable names. See Batch Generation from CSV.

Default value The value a variable uses in design-time previews and at render time when no value is provided. Set in the Variable tab. See Variable Settings.

DPI (Dots Per Inch) A measure of output resolution. 96 DPI is standard for screen; 300 DPI is standard for print. Affects pixel output when physical dimensions (mm/cm/in) are used.

Element Any object on the canvas: shape, text, image, icon, QR code, or barcode.

Export Getting data out of a template rather than a rendered image. There’s no bulk design-data or bundle export; a template’s variable schema can be viewed and copied from the Variable tab’s API Preview (or the header API example button). See Variable Schema & API Preview.

Gradient A fill type that transitions smoothly between two or more colors. Can be linear or radial. See Appearance, Color & Gradients.

Group Two or more elements combined into a single selectable unit. Moving or resizing the group affects all members. See Grouping Elements.

Layer The depth position of an element in the canvas stack. Higher layers appear in front of lower layers. See Layers Panel.

Magic link A one-time sign-in link sent to your email. Clicking it signs you in without a password. Expires in 15 minutes.

Opacity How transparent an element is. 0% = fully invisible; 100% = fully solid.

Passkey A cryptographic device credential enabling passwordless authentication via biometrics (Face ID, fingerprint, PIN). See Security & Passkeys.

Project A top-level container for one or more templates, representing a campaign or design family. See Projects Overview.

QR Code A two-dimensional barcode that encodes a URL or text string. Zandovi generates QR codes natively with configurable error correction and styling. See QR Codes.

Quiet Zone The empty border required around a QR code for scanners to detect it. The standard minimum is 4 modules. See QR Codes.

Render The process of producing a final image from a template, with variables substituted. The output is a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF file.

Schema A machine-readable description of a template’s variables — their names, types, labels, defaults, and required status. Used by the API to validate render requests. See Variable Schema & API Preview.

Slug A URL-safe identifier for a workspace, using lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Auto-generated from the organization name.

Smart Guides Dynamic alignment lines that appear on the canvas while dragging elements, helping you align to other elements’ edges and centers. See Navigating the Canvas.

Stock images Professional photos and illustrations sourced from Unsplash, Pexels, or Pixabay, searchable directly within the Designer. See Images.

Template A single canvas at a specific size, containing elements and optional variables. The output of a render. See Core Concepts.

Variable A template element marked as dynamic (labeled {{first_name}}); its entire value is replaced with real data at render time. One variable per element — there is no inline {{...}} substitution within text. See What Are Variables.

Workspace The top-level container for all your projects, templates, and API keys. Personal workspaces are created automatically; team workspaces require a Team plan. See Personal vs Team Workspaces.
